Joey and Cher expecting...!
In early May 2005, Jeri's friends Laura and Steve Ensign loaned their two mini's, Kirby and Cher to us. The idea was to attempt to breed Cher with Joey, Jeri's stallion. They had tried this last year without success. On July 11, 2005 the vet visited Cher and did an ultrasound and we have good news. Cher is pregnant. The due date is believed to be sometime in April 2006.
Come back to this page for more information and we will post pictures of the baby if the pregnancy is successful.

This is a picture of the ultrasound from July 11, 2005. Baby is within the red circle:

On July 30, Jeri went out to feed the horse and notices some unusual problems with Cher. She was not eating and had an unusual twitch on her belly. She called Laura, Cher's owner and they came over and looked at her. They decided to call the Vet who came over later that day. They weren't sure what the problem was, but felt there was some problem.
On Monday August 1, they took Cher to a horse hospital. They determined that she had internal bleeding. They thought about doing surgery, but Cher seemed to improve, so they held off. Cher continued to improve over the next serval days and the plan was for her to come back to our place today, August 9. However this mornings report indicated she had a relapse and surgery was again being considered.
Will update this page as soon as we have new information. - Cam
Cher is still in the horse hospital, but she has again recovered to normal numbers without having the surgery to determine why she has had the internal bleeding. What this means is that the internal bleeding stops for a time and then apparently starts again. Jeri thinks it may be a aneurism, but of course we don't really know and won't know unless she is operated on to determine what the problem really is. So as of this point in time she is doing well.
Cher continues to be holding the normal numbers and there has not been any surgery yet. Hope to have another update later today.
August 21, 2005
Cher and Kirby came home last Tuesday. She has been doing fine since. As far as we know the baby is doing fine too.
Thought I would add a update since we haven't for some time. Cher (and baby) appear to be doing just fine. It is just a few months away from when she is due, we believe sometime in April. We of course will have more updates as we get closer to that time and when baby is born we will have a full report with pictures. Thank you for your interest.
Jeri has been attempting to feel baby kick and hasn't had success...until tonight. Laura (Cher's Owner) was here this evening, delivering some hay and after doing that both Jeri and Laura were checking out the Cher and lo and behold they felt baby kicking. They felt it many times so were quite thrilled with this development.
Here is a recent picture of a very pregnant Cher. We have about a month to a month and a half to go.
For comparison, here she is last summer during her time at the hospital.
Steve and Laura took Cher to the horse hospital on April 1. She was not having any problem, just wanted her to be there as we get closer to the birth! As soon as something happens we will post information and pictures here!
Today is Jeri's day off and she went down to the hospital to visit Cher. Was there about 2 hours and was getting ready to come back home when Cher's water broke. Cher delivered a healthy filly (female) and they are both doing fine. Jeri forgot to take the cameras with her so I will get them and go to the hospital later this evening. Here she is.

Sept 3 2006 Sorry it has been so long since out last update. We have just been so busy. Anyway, here are some updated pictures of Lily. This first one is from just a few days ago, August 26. She now weighs between 90-100 lbs. Mini's grow very fast.

We can tell you though, that she is as sweet as can be. She comes running to see us in the morning and evening and just wants to be near us when we are visiting her. We have taken her on walks to the park and around the neighborhood and she is admired and loved wherever we go.

Between this picture and the one below, you can see how much she has grown in just the last couple months.
