September 2008 found us traveling with Jeri's folks to Monterey California to attend the wedding of Jeri's niece Kristin.  We left Roseburg on Thursday September 11 and traveled the Redwood highway from Grants Pass to Crescent City California.  We then traveled on down 101 to Willits California where we stayed for the night at a Super 8.  We continued on down 101 to San Francisco Friday the 12, stopping to overlook the Golden Gate Bridge.

We continued on to Monterey, actually Pacific Grove CA which is just to the west of Monterey where we stayed at the Sea Breeze Inn.  On Sabbath both families from the Wedding Party met at Point Lobos State Reserve, which is just south of Carmel CA.  We had a wonderful meal there and then did some hiking.

I love Pelicans, they are such cool birds and seeing them fly is amazing.  Unfortunately, we had a cloudy background for them, but here is one of the pictures I caught that I like.

Here is a picture of the Newlyweds, the day after the wedding.  We had brunch with them and other family the next morning.

Tuesday September 16, we left Monterey and traveled to St Helena California in the heart of the Napa Valley to visit Elmshaven, the home of Ellen G White, one of the founders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  Elmshaven was her home from 1900 till her death in 1915.

This room is were Mrs White wrote the last 9 books in her collection.

We also took a few moments and visited Pacific Union College.

We had a great trip, with the highlight of attending Kristin and Matt's wedding.  We are thankful for our safe journey.
