arrived in Singapore. With the tradgety that had occurred, Singapore chose not to have a big celebration for the new year which made much sense. Looking back on this time, it was an growing experience. We learned how much God loves us and how we can trust Him to meet all our needs whether we know of our needs or not.

As most of you know, Jeri and I were on a vacation over the holidays of 2004. We left Portland on Dec 16 2004 to travel to Thailand for a 2 week vacation. We spent two days in Bangkok, 3 days at the Angkhang Nature Reserve in northern Thailand, 3 more days in Chiang Mai, the largest city in northern Thailand. We were in Chiang Mai Sunday morning Dec 26 (Jeri’s 45th birthday) preparing to go to the airport to catch a flight to Phuket Thailand, when we felt a small earthquake about 8:30am. the flight. It was time for the plane to board, but it didn’t. We found out a few hours later that the tsunami had happened and Phuket had been one of the places effected. Jeri and I celebrated our 10th anniversary this year on April 2. We spent a couple special days with Jeri’s parent’s, celebrating their birthdays (Jeri’s mom’s a little late and her dad’s a little early), staying at a Bed & Breakfast near Newport Oregon. The B&B is called Tyee Lodge |

(www.tyeelodge.com). It was a lovely place with a trail to the beach. We had reasonably good weather with only a couple showers. We visited the Yaquina Head lighthouse and a museum about the lighthouse and the area. We also visited the Oregon aquarium. The B&B |

supplied wonderful gourmet breakfasts and we enjoyed getting to know the B&B owners. |
